  • Well Done to all the gymnasts who took part in the Birmingham Friendly Competiton held on Sunday 27 March. This was the first competition for many of the gymnasts and all four teams did very well with some 'personal best' performances. See team pictures below

HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENTS BY THE CLUB'S COMPETITIVE TEAM

  • Well done to the Level 4 Team who participated in the recent Regional Team Championships and came 4th. We were proud of all the girls in the team - Niamh, Lucy P, Lucy F, India and an injured Olivia, but especially India and Lucy F for staying on the beam! Well done to India for landing your first flic on the beam in competition.
  • Well done to Hayley Sawyer and Georgia Key who took part in the Level 5 Competitions on Saturday 23 October. Both girls performed well; it was Georgia's first competition and she was very nervous on beam, but wanted to do it all again and Hayley was very pleased with her bars. Sadly Em and Olivia were unable to compete due to injuries.
  • Congratulations to Bex on getting a bronze medal in Level 2 on Sunday 3 October. Well done to our other gymnasts who competed over the weekend - Niamh, Molly, Lucy & India. See Results
  • Metropolitan County Championships - well done to all our girls who took part in the Annual County Championships on Sunday 11 July. A special congratulations to our three medal winners Bess (silver at Level 4), Bex (bronze at Level 2) and Em (bronze at Level 5). Special mention for Ashleigh who competed at Level 5 while being a year too young to compete at Regional events and who came a very respectable 7th out of 13. Also well done to Lucy Fennell who did both her upstarts!
  • CONGRATULATIONS to Niamh Taylor on getting the silver medal in Grade 12. Well done also to all our other gymnasts who competed in Grade 12 - Lucy Paddock, Skye Sturdy, Molly Thompson and Grade 13 - Jessica Bateman (who narrowly missed a bronze), India-Rose Cox and Lucy Fennell - see pictures below.   • CONGRATULATIONS to Emily Hawkins on gaining a bronze medal in her first competition (Grade 14). Olivia Kunneke and Hayley Sawyer also competed and all three gymnasts scored over 60 and received a distinction in their grade. Well done girls - see pictures below. See Results
  • Congratulations to Ashleigh Owen (aged 6) on gaining a place in the Metropolitan County Squad - all your hard work has paid off, especially the extra conditioning!
  • Well done to Georgina, Jess and Bex who competed at Regional Grades this weekend (13 & 14 March). Congratulations to Jess who came away with a bronze medal in at Grade 9. We are extremely proud of all of you - well done Georgina for landing your free cartwheel on beam and all girls performed particularly well on floor - lovely leaps! See photos below.
  • Well done to the Metropolitan County Senior and Junior Teams who both took silver at the John Reeves Inter-County Competition on Sunday 13 December. Hannah Bond was in the Senior Team and Bess (Jessica) Bateman was in the Junior Team. Both girls performed extremely well and it was a good end to the competition season. Well done Hannah for doing your Tsuk, full twist on floor and shoot to catch on bars. Judges and gymnasts also received a commerative award to mark the 20th anniversary of the John Reeves competition. See picture below.
  • CONGRATULATIONS to Rebecca Blay, India-Rose Cox and Emily Hawkins for gaining places in the Metropolitan County Squad for 2010!
  • Congratulations to our Level 2 Team (Freya, Bex, Jess B and Hannah) who got a bronze medal in the Team Apparatus competition on 15 November. Our Level 5 Team performed well on the day and narrowly missed out on the bronze medal by 0.5 (Niamh, Bess, Lucy and India-Rose). A special well done to India-Rose who did her back walkover on beam and a float upstart on bars in competition when she had only done them for the first time in training on the Friday night before the competition! WELL DONE girls! See Results for a full set of scores.
  • Well done to our Level 5 gymnasts who competed on Saturday 24 October. Niamh Taylor came 5th in the 9/10 years category and in the In-Age category Jessica Bateman came 11th (3rd on bars), Lucy Fennell came 14th (with good scores on beam and floor) and India-Rose came 22nd (with good scores on vault and beam).
  • Well Done to all our gymnasts who competed over the weekend (3rd and 4th October). Georgina Mynott competed at FIG Seniors and came 4th overall (2nd on vault and floor). Four of the girls competed at Level 2 - Hannah Bond came 5th (1st on vault and 2nd on bars), Jessica Wevill came 7th (2nd on bars), Jessica Bayliss came 9th (1st on bars) and Freya Phillips came 8th (1st on vault). Rebecca Blay competed at Level 3 and came 6th (3rd on vault). A full set of Results is now available.
  • Special congratulations to Hannah Bond for doing her Tsuk vault for the first time in competition!! Also to Jessica Wevill for doing her full twist on floor (despite not being able to train fully for the last 3 months due to injuries) and to Jessica Bayliss for doing a shoot to catch and getting her bar routine to flow.
  • WELL DONE to our Level 2 and Level 5 teams who competed on Sunday 20 September. The Level 2 Team consisted of Freya, Hannah, Bex and Jess with Jessica W as reserve - they finished off in bronze medal position - see photo below. The Level 5 Team consisted of India-Rose, Bess, Niamh and Lucy and they came 4th.
  • The Metropolitan County Championships took place on Sunday 12 July. This year we were only able to enter 7 of our gymnasts, but came away with two County Champions!! Rebecca Blay came 1st in Level 3 (best score on all pieces) and Jessica Bateman (Bess) came 1st in Level 5 (best score on bars and only gymnast to score over 1300 on the day!). Kenzie Watkins, who is actually too young to compete in the Region this year, came 2nd in Level 5 (best score on beam). Well done to all the girls who competed - Freya Phillips came 4th in Level 2 (best score on floor), Morgan Watkins came 5th (best score on beam) and Lucy Paddock 6th in Level 4 and Lucy Fennell came 4th in Level 5.   • The Competition Class Annual Championships took place on Sunday 5 July resulting in five Club Champions : Georgina Mynott - Senior 13+ Champion, Hannah Bond - Senior Champion, Morgan Watkins - Intermediate Champion, Jessica Bateman (Bess) - Junior Champion and Kenzie Watkins - Infant Champion.   • WELL DONE to Ella Cooper who came 31st out of 63 in the Elite Grade - Compulsory Level 4 - National Finals held on Saturday 2 May. Ella achieved 12.100 on vault, 10.950 on bars, 12.000 on beam, 11.000 on floor and 11.550 on Range & Conditioning (her best piece - coming 14th). This is a great achievement for the club and we are very proud of both Ella and her coach Krystie - see picture below.
  • GREAT NEWS Mark passed his National Judging exam!
  • WELL DONE to all our gymnasts who competed during the weekend of 4 & 5 April. Special congratulations to Bess on coming 3rd in the Regional Grade 14. This was her first competition and a fantastic achievement as she only joined the Club last September. Lucy Fennell also did well despite a fall on the beam coming 27th. Well done to Lucy Paddock who came 4th in Grade 13 (narrowly missing a medal by 0.25) and to Morgan Watkins, Megan Hughes, Niamh Taylor, Amelia Nicholls and Annalise Pugh (Grade 12) - they all passed!   • FANTASTIC Results! At the GMAC Centre on 14 and 15 March at the West Midlands Grades Competitions our gymnasts did extremely well: Ella Cooper 6th at Compulsory 4 (Elite Grade); Jasmine Padda 7th in National Grade 8; Georgina Mynott 2nd in Regional Grade 9; Jessica Wevill 1st (Regional Champion), Freya Phillips 2nd, Rebecca Blay 3rd and Hannah Bond 4th in Regional Grade 10 and Alanah Coley 14th in Regional Grade 11.
